MMA was invited to attend the meeting of the National Cost of Living Council (NACCOL) on 23rd June 2025, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. During the session, MOH presented & expressed its support for the proposed GP consultation fee increase to a range of RM55–RM80.
MMA President, Dato Dr Kalwinder Singh Khaira was given the opportunity to present our justification for fee revision for which he made a strong case.
The meeting was also attended by various NGOs & state government representatives. While there was general support for the revision, some parties expressed mixed views on the proposed quantum of increase.
Importantly, the DPM has agreed to escalate this matter to the Cabinet for deliberation. MMA also had the opportunity to engage directly with DPM to reiterate our key concerns & reaffirm our requests.
As a gesture of appreciation, MMA presented a souvenir to the DPM during the meeting. We remain hopeful for a positive outcome that reflects the needs of the profession and strengthens the sustainability of primary care in Malaysia.
