On 5 July 2025, MMA Wilayah successfully hosted a Blood Donation Drive at Aeon Metro Prima, Kepong, in collaboration with Pusat Darah Negara and Aeon Malaysia. The initiative aimed to promote voluntary blood donation and raise public awareness about its life-saving impact.

Mobilising Community Action

The drive received strong support from the local community, resulting in the collection of over 40 units of blood. This contribution is especially vital as national blood banks often face shortages, particularly during festive and holiday periods. Community engagement of this scale demonstrates the importance of sustained public education and outreach in supporting national health systems.

Empowering Public Preparedness

In addition to blood donation, the event featured a hands-only CPR demonstration led by MMA’s CPR committee and medical students. Shoppers, including children as young as five, were given the opportunity to learn basic life-saving skills through guided, hands-on practice using mannequins. This interactive session enhanced public awareness of emergency response readiness and encouraged wider health literacy among attendees.

Reflections on Public Health Promotion

This initiative exemplifies the vital role of grassroots-level health promotion in preventive medicine and public health. By merging practical health education with direct action, such events foster a culture of responsibility and empowerment within the community. They also reinforce the value of partnerships between medical professionals, educational institutions, and the private sector in advancing health equity and access.

Acknowledgement

We extend sincere appreciation to the volunteers, donors, CPR trainers, and all who contributed to the success of this meaningful event.
